Nampa Civic Center's new Performing Arts Series
NAMPA – Tickets to the 2011-12 season of the Nampa Civic Center's Performing Arts Series are now on sale. The calendar of entertaining events opens Aug. 20 with a performance by musical artist Rosyln Kind and is followed by three perrformances of “Late Night Catechism,” Sept. 9 to 11 and the classical crossover sound of Il Voce on Sept. 21. Tim Behrens returns in his one-man portrayal of humorist Patrick McManus in “Diddlysquat” on Oct. 15. Another October treat is a performance by singer, songwriter, humorist and small town philosopher Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours on Oct. 21.
Other performances include high-energy country with a Cajun twist when the Do Wah Riders perform Nov. 15; Neil Berg's 101 Years of Broadway on Jan. 17, 2012; Celtic Nights, Jan. 29; The Good Lovelies, Feb. 14; “Girls Night – The Musical,” Feb. 20 to March 4; McManus Comedies, April 19; and Jim Witters in his return to Nampa with “Feeing Groovy.”
You'll also want to mark New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, for the Highstreet Dinner Dance and Concert to usher in 2012.

BOISE – Boise Contemporary Theater brings noted authors Scott Glenn and Sam Shepard to the Egyptian Theater July 28 for a performance of Shepard's play “Age of the Moon.” This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see both of these talented actors on stage at one time. They have never performed live on stage together, Helene Peterson, managing director of Boise Contemporary Theater, said.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with the reading at 7 p.m.
“Ages of the Moon” tells the story of Byron and Ames sitting on a front porch waiting to watch a total eclipse. They are old friends, re-united by mutual desperation. Over whiskey on a hot summer's night, they sit, reflect and bicker until 50 years of love, friendship and rivalry are put to the test.
